Noah Caluori | England Rugby

The chances are that until very recently, if you’re a rugby fan, you might not have heard of Noah Caluori​, the 19 year old 6ft 5in, 100kg winger who left Mill Hill School this summer and has since become an overnight sensation. That kind of rise happens when you score five tries on your first ever Premiership start, as Caluori did for Saracens less than a month ago.

I photographed Noah at his England A training session in Bath last week ahead of his debut international against New Zealand on Saturday. He’s also becoming known for his incredible aerial ability, leaping and hanging in the air at heights you’d expect on a ​pro basketball court rather than a rugby pitch. I did regret not asking him to jump up and hang from the crossbar of the rugby posts for a ​portrait, although I suspect the England PR team might not have seen the funny side.
