I wouldn't usually get excited by accounting software but I always dreaded bookkeeping and understanding accounts was never high on my list of priorities. Keeping no records and tax evasion did cross my mind at one stage, but then I discovered Kashflow.
Kashflow makes things incredibly easy for me and I would recommend it to any other photographers needing an easy but powerful tool for completing your accounts. If you've ever tried Sage or Quickbooks, Kashflow looks like a fisher-price "my first accounting software" (in a good way), with no accounting jargon and a steal at £14 per month. It's all stored online so instantly accessible, you can email professional looking invoices from within the software and create pretty graphs that I'm not always entirely sure of their meaning.
They run a two month free trial in January and have impeccable customer service with actual people answering actual telephone calls, amazing (again take note Virgin).
You also get reminders when invoices are overdue and you can link it to your business bank account to keep track of your finances. This is a great tool for any type of small business, they really have thought of everything.
