The artist David Cranswick transforms  earth, rocks, plants and bones into paints. I spent an afternoon with David at his beautiful studio secreted away at the top of a romantic crumbling tower within the ruins of the Cowdray Estate in the South Downs. The studio felt very renaissance in styling and the alchemy of creating his vibrant paints was fascinating. Burned Chicken bones for the colour black, I would never have guessed. Photographed for the magazine Artist And Illustrators
