Loch Leven from Glencoe Pap in the Scottish Highlands. Not many other locations in the UK have had such an effect on me. It's hard to put my finger on exactly what it is that I find so exciting about this area. The outstanding natural beauty is obvious but it's the stillness and slight eeriness that also contributes to the appeal. Glencoe reminds me of something from a Stephen King novel, there is an unearthliness about it.
I first heard this song in the soundtrack to the wonderful film La Grande Belleza and listened to it on repeat whilst travelling around Scotland, which probably helped cement my fondness for the area. My heart is still very much in the Highlands.
